Participants learn to recognize early warning signs of illness, tips on preventing health problems, how to stay safe while helping an injured pet, and how to assemble pet first aid and disaster kits. There are also opportunities to practice CPR skills on life-like pet mannequins.
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Unfortunately, the greys will have to stay at home but we can still have greyt fun.

Cost: $40 Per Person (Pets America will probably set up a Pay Pal button on their website, but we’ll see)
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">
<P =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Now that Hurricane Season is here, it’s essential that you make a disaster plan for your entire family, including pets. Several weeks prior, she had contracted a very aggressive and malignant bone tumor on her leg that caused her to limp. Three weeks later, it was so bad that she could hardly walk or go to the bathroom, even with pain medication. While the decision to put her to sleep was very painful, it was worse watching her get sicker and sicker each day. She is now in a place where she can chase cats and eat sweets to her heart's delight. Many of you knew and cared for Sue through the years she was in the kennel and in foster homes. We adopted her in January 2005 and have loved her ever since. Thank you for sending her to us. She will be greatly missed, as she was a true friend, and a great dog. She would be 13 years-old this coming November.

Sincerely,

The Biggs Family
I thought I would post a special tribute to my 9 1/2 year old - black beauty Alice.

Looking through some old posts I found an old bath brigade thread from June 2005 that discussed Alice...

"Alice was so much fun, she loved the attention and gives you attention as well. She does not act like a 6 year old, she is active and very very curious, but loves to get those pets from you and she knows her name, she only has been with us for a few days. Appears to be a greyt dog.
~posted by Janny"

"this is <SPAN ="highlight">Alice--she's 6.5 years young and not yet available for adoption as she just came to us on 6/22/05"~posted by GPA's ghoundman Tim"

And here is a photo of Alice from the bath brigade on 6/25/2005 just 3 days after she came to GPA from a greyhound farm in Woodville, Texas

The photo shows Alice doing something she loves to do - smile, smile, smile.

After 3 years together Alice is still tons of fun, loves attention and gives attention back. And though she is whiter in the face, Alice definitely does not act like a 9 1/2 year old who will be 10 in four months. Her favorite things are riding in the car, toys, chasing squirrels in the backyard, and being wherever the humans are...In honor of this I ordered Alice's Pet Certificate from the National Greyhound Association and expect to receive it in the mail any day. If you have not ordered yours it really if a nice thing to have and hang on the wall. It shows your greyhounds sire & dam (parents) and (grandparents). there are instructions on the GPA website if you want to order one.

And because it is the 3rd sunday of the month - we will be at Petsmart on Bay Area Blvd this Sunday August 17th from 1 pm to 3 pm for a greyhound meet and greet if anyone wants to visit.

~ Eileen (the human chauffer)

Gus & Alice (Greyhounds who like to be spoiled)

Edited by eileenmichele - 15 August 2008 at 10:52pm

I need to find someone who can board my greyhound "Katy" on the weekend of February 23rd & 24th. I'm going out of town (to Corpus Christi) and unfortunately won't be able to take her with me.

Katy is 6 and generally shy - is good with cats and kids - loves walks and neck rubs.

If anyone does boarding regularly or is availible on that weekend, please drop me a line at d_bronx_brooklyn@yahoo.com. I live in the Oak Forest area near TC Jester.

Thanks to all,
Bill
